18-24 Month Favorites
We celebrated Luca’s second birthday a couple of weeks ago. Now that he’s two, I wanted to share some of our 18-24 month favorites. I like to reflect and make notes on what worked and what didn’t for us and Luca every 3-6 months. I’ve been doing since he was a newborn and it’s been super beneficial. I made a similar post this time last year as well, you can see our 9-12 month favorites here!
This 18-24 month favorites list has everything from the diapers and wipes we prefer (and why!), our favorite baby wash, educational toys, Luca’s favorite toys and more!
- Huggie’s Little Movers Diapers. A couple of months ago, Luca started pulling off his diaper. We were using the Amazon Mama Bear diapers at the time (after trying almost every brand) and they were so easy for him to remove. I asked some Mamas on Instagram what brand of diapers they recommend for an almost 2 year and Huggie’s Little Movers were the most recommended by far. We’re on our second box and I love them. The quality is great, Luca can’t pull them off and they hold up overnight.
- Mama Bear Baby Wipes. We’ve also tried almost every version of hypoallergenic/fragrance free wipes on the market. I had issues with just about every one and decided on a whim to order the Mama Bear wipes. I’m so glad I did. They come in individual recloseable packs and have the cutest fox design. The wipe itself is soft to touch but sturdy and one wipe goes a long way.
- Wooden Number Puzzle. We bought the Hape Alphabet puzzle last year and it was so helpful in helping Luca identify his letters. He knew a few numbers and shapes from me drawing them. he loves puzzles and they really help him with learning, so I ordered the number and shapes puzzle. It also comes with little pillars and rings to stack on them that help build fine motor skills.
- Zoku Round Pop Molds. We bought these during the summer for a cool treat by the pool. I would just freeze our extra smoothie mixture and pour it in the molds. They were delicious and would keep Luca busy for at least 10 minutes (this is a long time LOL). The molds are easy to use, easy to clean and the handle is the perfect size for toddler hands.
- Weleda Baby Cream. I LOVE Weleda products. They all have cleaner ingredients, are mostly 0’s on the ThinkDirty scale and they smell so good. We switched from honest lotion and baby wash to Weleda about 6 months ago and I’ll never go back. We do still and love use the Honest Bubble Bath though! I just bought this Weleda baby body lotion as well. It’s a bigger bottle and a slightly different formula so we’ll see if I like it as much.
- Weleda Baby Shampoo & Body Wash. This is the shampoo and body wash I use on Luca. It has a creamy and thick consistency which makes it easy for Luca to help wash. It smells like a baby too! It’s the best.
- Twistable Crayons. We love these crayons. I think they’re perfect for the 18-24 month range where they want to color but they’re still super rough on their things. These are harder to break than regular crayons — Luca has figured it out though LOL.
- 12 Piece Safari Animal Set. We have a few animal sets but this is our favorite. The animals are very realistic and super sturdy (you’ll see sturdy is a theme in what we look for in toys). They come with a mom/dad animal and a baby for each animal which Luca loves. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an animal set!
- Banana Panda Super Size Memory Game. This is a great “first” memory game. The pieces are big and sturdy and the pictures are fun, colorful and clear. We started with only 2 pairs at a time and now do 5 pairs. Luca loves looking for the animals, mostly because one of his favorite words is “other” LOL.
- Funko POP Baby Groot. Luca LOVES Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s never sat through either of the movies but he will watch the Groot dance in the beginning of GOTG2 1,00 times in row (it starts at minute 4:37 if you’re interested :)). We got him this baby Groot and a plush Groot and he loves them both so much. He calls them baby Groot and big Groot and it’s the cutest thing.
- Play-Doh 36 Pack. If you’re going to buy Play-Doh, why not buy 36 of them?! This super pack is great if you’re pregnant and you forget everything and accidentally leave Play-Doh overnight so it dries out because it comes with doubles of almost every color. Or if you want a year’s supply of Play-Doh. Or if your toddler tries to eat the Play-Doh and you’re constantly throwing some out. Or all of the above like me 🙂 Joking aside, it’s a great deal for a lot of Play-Doh.
- Melissa & Doug Cleaning Set. I’ll probably read this back one day and yearn repeat these words — Luca LOVES to clean. If he sees the floor is dirty, he’ll go and get his broom or vacuum or mop depending on the surface and mess. When he first expressed interest in cleaning, I quickly went on Amazon to find kid size cleaning tools and this Melissa & Doug set came highly reviewed. It comes with a stand to hold the tools and the tools are made from quality wood. Hands down one of the best things we’ve purchased for him.
- Ukulele Starter Kit. We knew we wanted to expose our children to music and musical instruments as early as possible. Ry plays the guitar, harmonica and the piano so there is no shortage of instruments in our house. We have a whole room dedicated to music. Luca was loving strumming on Ry’s guitars so we bought him this beginner ukulele as his own first guitar-type instrument. We have music time every day (we have this instrument set as well that we love) and Luca loves “playing” his “gee-tar.”
- Battat Wooden Vehicles. We’re huge fans of Montessori-style wooden toys. Luca loves playing with cars so I picked up this vehicle pack for his birthday. They are so cute! The quality and attention to detail are great and they’re a great size for this age.
- Melissa & Doug Round the Town Rug. I have very specific memories of playing with cars on a town rug with my brother and sister when we were younger. I was so excited to buy Luca his own! He loves to park his cars in the parking lots and put his animals on the different structures, it’s the cutest thing.
What are your favorites for this age?!
