Luca is a Wild One
Luca is a Wild One
We were fortunate to have our family visit for Luca’s birthday weekend. When I was deciding on a theme for his party, I knew I wanted foxes to be involved somehow (how could I not?!) and I saw the “Wild One” theme all over the internet. After a quick search on Etsy, I decided on a Woodland Wild One theme.
I love the fun look of a balloon arch. I found this orange and white one on Amazon and the colors didn’t disappoint! I had no idea what to expect going into it but the process wasn’t too bad. It was a bit time consuming but blowing up the balloons wasn’t horrible. We used two hand pumps and a designated balloon tie-er and the process start to finish probably took an hour.
The Charcuterie Table
I love a charcuterie board. It’s the perfect meal/snack — cheeses, meats, veggies, fruit, nuts, dips.. the possibilities and combinations are endless. I thought it would be fun to do a charcuterie table after seeing in on Instagram (@whateverhernameis) and since there was going to be 15 of us with different tastes and restrictions (we had 4 vegetarians and 1 gluten-free), I knew I could fill the table with a bunch of different options to please everyone. We covered the table in brown paper, added a couple of wood boards and bowls and built it from there. It turned out exactly like I was imagining and everyone loved it!
I picked up most of the cheeses and produce from Trader Joe’s and the crackers, pretzels, olives and meats from a local supermarket. I made the dips and the italian bread (recipe coming soon!).
The Cake
I’m pretty strict with Luca’s refined sugar intake and I knew I didn’t want to overload him on sugar for the first time ever on his birthday. I browsed the internet for a sugar-free cake option but ended up coming up with something that was similar to the banana bread I make him. The cake itself was sweetened with a a mixture of bananas and pureed blueberries and the icing was a homemade whipped cream sweetened with organic maple syrup.
His reaction to being given an entire cake was so funny — he didn’t know what to do with it. But once we gave him a taste of the icing he went for the cake. He loved it!
It was such a wonderful day. Luca was surrounded by love and happiness and we are incredibly thankful that our family was here to celebrate our little Wild One.
